Shawna Platt

Paranormal & Psychological Thriller Author

Reviews

5 STARS! "I was drawn in by the combination of the title and a intriguingly designed cover and I must say I was not disappointed! This work of fiction is so engaging in every way that you find your self from cover to print (or digital) cover being pulled into a world that is both well crafted and has enough holes in its description that your mind gets the picture painted but fills in the blanks so thoroughly that before you know it it's YOUR story too. The characters aren't your normal fare and if faced with the choice between patriotism and parenting I could see siding with the protagonist but the side of the military is clear. They want to win and they don't take no for an answer! The lines are defined for them but for this mother and I'm sure many others there are many shades of grey that haze the way for any parent. I love everything about this and unless you hate well written words crafted by someone who I don't lightly call a master of her craft you will too. Buy it, read it, hound the author to make a sequel! I know I will!" ~Zeb Carter (for Her Only Son)

5 STARS! "This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through! I absolutely loved the characters, and the way it's written really pulls you into their story. Plus, the ending was perfect. I couldn't imagine it any other way. Highly recommend this title!" ~Nina Louise (for Her Only Son)

5 STARS! "When I read this book I had no idea what to expect. It was nothing like I thought it might be and I certainly was surprised by the ending, which in my estimation could not have been any better. From the beginning of the first page I was going down the wrong path and I was at a loss to figure out what could or would happen. I very nearly committed what I consider to be a huge no-no in book reading...looking at the last chapter, I was that much on the edge of my seat. You will in no way, shape or form be disappointed by this bizarre tale, woven so expertly by its author. I can tell you she is an extremely talented author and the hard working owner and editor of the wonderful, Shadows & Light Anthologies. Her Only Son has something for everyone and is so packed with suspense, I could not put it down. I guarantee, you will love it!" ~Sandy Rozanski (for Her Only Son)

5 STARS! "It's been a long time since I've picked up a good book to actually sit and read...I am normally an audio book person. I could not put this book down. It's a good fast paced book with characters that pull you in right away. Her Only Son grabbed every emotion as I turned the pages...you won't regret picking this one up! Hope to see Shawna Platt do some more like this one." ~Jane Blanton (for Her Only Son)

5 STARS! "I loved this book! From the first page until the last...could not put it down. Very good story line, loved the characters, hated some of them, and rooted for most of them. Nice twists in the plot. Great job, Shawna Platt, looking forward to reading more of your work. I am so glad I found another great author with great books to read." ~La Vonne Christian (for Her Only Son)

5 STARS! "Some of these stories made my skin crawl, but in a good way. Dark and light are balanced in this anthology...nicely. There is food for thought, poetry for the soul, and once again some good old goosebumps to entertain the dark side (we all have one). Lovely read...thoroughly enjoyed."~Demme (for Shadows & Light-September 2015 Issue)

5 STARS! “A clever, fast paced thriller! Shawna Platt has done a good job creating a quick, fast-paced short story that is either perfect for those lazy summer days or reading on a autumn night with a hot cup of your favorite drink by a roaring fire. The town of Cromwell Creek is terrorized by a serial killer. Rachel Cromwell is a reporter looking into the story and finds out the identity of the killer that hits too close to home. What secrets do her husband Daryl harbor? Why does her son continue to act strangely? Throw is some gruesome killing, a few twists, and you have a story that will appeal to everyone with Hitchcockian tastes.” ~Tenebraerick (for Quota-Short Story)

“From the beginning, this story captivated me! It's about a journalist who has been following the murders of a cannibalistic serial killer and the evidence starts pointing to her own son! Shawna's ability to weave plot and character development with technicality and all the nuts and bolts that go into writing a great story, blew my mind! This story flows flawlessly and literally had me sitting on the edge of my seat, dying to find out how it ends! Anyone who loves to read fictional, edge-of-your-seat, mystery/horror, paranormal/psychological stories, MUST read this one! It's fantastically written.” ~Shalon Hutchens (for Quota-Short Story)

"Shawna Platt (Angel Shadow) has shown her writing skills by weaving a fiction tale occurring over two hundred years in a flawless manner. Shawna shows her multiple writing proficiencies in this story by making engaging and realistic dialogues, beautiful poetry, dark romance, and a thrilling prophecy that must be fulfilled. All her characters become real as you follow them in their journeys to reach their own personal goals of revenge, closure, or clarity in a race to see who gets what first. This story will keep you turning the pages until the end!" ~Ian Bush (for Clover Hill)

5 STARS! Stories to keep you up nights. Angel Shadow has proven that she has mastered the short story genre. Each of the stories in this book will keep the reader turning the page and biting their nails. Surviving Bedlam is appropriate indeed. This is not a book that anyone would want to miss. It will keep the reader talking for days.” ~Yvonne Mason (for Shattered Sanctuary)

5 STARS! Hate and discontent can expand over generations. Clover Hill by Angel Shadow is a journey into the hearts of everyday people. A journey that takes the reader into the fear that people feel when they do not understand another human being. The hatred that sometimes spawns from years of that hatred. A cancer that grows and is passed down from generation to generation until it finally either dies a natural death or is healed. Angel Shadow has taken the human emotion of fear of the unknown and given it a human form. One that is cloaked in the robes of the "righteous" - She has taken that emotion and shown the reader what it is like to hate in the name of religion which is passed down from generation to generation. This is indeed an excellent read.” ~Yvonne Mason (for Clover Hill)

4 STARS! I loved the diversity of each tale in this book. Every single story is well written with twists and turns that captivate your interest and make you eager to find out how they end. Very well done! I am a fan.” ~Jynell Hull (for Shattered Sanctuary)

4 STARS! Stories to make you shiver, smile and think a bit. I enjoyed this book. Each story a bit different than the one before it...had one wondering where the tale was going...and how it would end. Tales of werewolves and ghosts and eerie abandoned mental institutions have one reading and not wanting to stop...each story offers something new. Loved the book!” ~Demme (for Shattered Sanctuary)

5 STARS! Mesmerized by this book. I totally enjoyed this tale which took me from the past to a different present. To a time when witchcraft was feared and the lines between the church...the devil and Wicca were blurred indeed. There is an overpowering sense of good versus evil in this tale...and just enough witchcraft...and romance to keep the heart and other senses tingling. I was entranced from start to finish! A delightful read.” ~Demme (for Clover Hill)

"Your book of poems is amazing. There is a lot to read in your poems that you do and yet you don't come right out and say. I'm loving it. It's much more like drinking it in than I thought reading would ever be. The wisdom in your writings is like striking gold to me and I could not be happier with it. Thank you for sharing you gift with the world. Your book will be something I will treasure. Thank you.” ~Ed Hofert (for Reflections)

4 STARS! Well written ghost story. Clover Hill is a pretty gripping read. The characters are well developed and there's a few twists in tale. It reads very much like a famous ghost legendary story. The imagery alone of Marie's dark, angry eyes gave me a pretty creepy picture in my mind. I really enjoyed it!” ~Gianandrea Maoli (for Clover Hill)

Pain is a part of life, but sadly healing always isn't, so if you are struggling pick up this book and know that you are never alone. You will leave this book with a piece of the author, and as an author myself that is truly what we hope for.” ~Christina (for Reflections)

“This book is for everyone. I now consider it a Handbook of Life. This is a way to look at the world, life, being a Human Being, with grace, calm, beauty, and yet with no filters or masks, stripped down and honest. I was left feeling wonderful, emotional, humbled beyond words, and with an intense desire to be a better person, more productive, more loving, more giving, more balanced. I read it often if I fall. It always sets me straight again. There is no other like it, and no other can replace it. Please, buy this book. Share it and its messages. The world and everyone on it will be better for it. I am grateful to have had the chance to read this book. Unforgettable.” ~Mary Beth (for Reflections

“I really enjoyed this piece! The fight scenes are pretty intense and the characters are well put together overall. I came to be a big admirer of Ayasha in particular who explains how she named all the wolves she's befriended in this alternate world. When you read the story, you'll see what I mean. Get this and give it a shot. You'll love it!” ~Gianandrea Maoli (for Shadow of the Wolf in Shattered Sanctuary)
